There are organizations and individuals who object to giving financial incentives to increase organ donation, such as the National Kidney Foundation. But a recent Gallup Poll survey shows the majority of Americans are in favor of changing the law, and many prominent scholars, ethicists, economists, physicians support changing the current legislation.

This proposal is not for a completely free market where rich people would simply buy kidneys from poor people. This proposal is only for third party (the government) purchases of the kidney who then distributes the kidneys fairly to poor and rich alike. The American Society Transplant Surgeons recently did a poll and 3 in 4 were either in favor of this proposal or not opposed.
